/ OUR TARGETS

Building on our progress and activities in sustainable packaging, we continue to improve our packaging footprint in line with our new ambitious targets for 2025 with the vision of striving for 100% circular packaging by 2030.

As your Partner in Craft, we offer you a large variety of professional hair products. We take up our responsibility and set ourselves competitive packaging targets for 2025:

  • 100% of our packaging at Schwarzkopf Professional will be designed for recyclability or reusability.*
  • We aim to reduce the amount of virgin plastic from fossil sources in our products by 50%. We plan to achieve this by increasing the proportion of recycled plastic to more than 30%, reducing the plastic volume, and by increasingly using bio-based plastics.
  • We want to help prevent waste from entering the environment. In order to achieve this, we are supporting waste management and recycling initiatives. We are investing in innovative solutions and technologies to promote closed-loop recycling.

In addition to this, we aim for 100 percent of the paper and cardboard we use for packaging to be made of recycled material or, where virgin fiber is required, to come from fresh fiber originating from sustainable forestry. 

*Excluding products where ingredients or residue may affect recyclability or pollute recycling streams.

In our quest to preserve nature, we develop products with clean, nature-based and natural ingredients, responsibly sourced aiming to offer our customers more value with high performance at a smaller environmental footprint.

    • Our products are developed and manufactured with the utmost care.
    • We do not test our cosmetic products on animals. This applies to our entire professional hair care assortment.
    • Since March 2013, the cosmetics regulation prohibits the testing of cosmetics and cosmetic ingredients on animals in the EU. Naturally, we respect, support, and comply with this obligation as a company.
    • Last but not least: For almost 40 years, we have been committed to the development and recognition of alternative methods in many different ways.
    • We engage our own research expertise to develop alternative testing methods, for example within the context of Phenion, or in relevant research collaboration initiatives at national or international association level, such as Cosmetics Europe.

    Our challenge is to manufacture more while using fewer resources and we have defined long-term goals to ensure that we develop in this direction. 

    Our challenge is to manufacture more while using fewer resources and we have defined long-term goals to ensure that we develop in this direction.

    • By 2030, we aim to achieve a climate-positive carbon footprint for our production sites (scope 1 and 2).
    • In line with our ambition, the sites will become climate-positive in terms of their carbon balance when surplus CO2-free energy that we do not need for our own purposes is supplied to third parties.
    • Therefore, we strive towards our existing goal of sourcing 100% of the electricity we purchase for production from renewable sources by 2030.
    • We are still pursuing our target of making a 65% reduction of the carbon footprint of our production sites by 2025 compared to the base year 2010.
    • We are also aiming to replace the fuels we need to generate thermal energy at our sites with CO2-free alternatives such as biogas or biomass by 2030.
    • In addition to our activities at our own sites, we want to leverage our influence on areas of our value chain that are particularly relevant to CO2 emissions.

    We want to enhance the livelihoods & well-being of our customers and their communities. Since 2010 we have had an impact on society beyond the planet through our global social initiative Shaping Futures, training socially disadvantaged young adults in the craft of hairdressing.

    Shaping Futures is dedicated to a world where young adults can face their future optimistically and with confidence, knowing that they have the skills to actively contribute to society and shape their lives independent of any external restraints.
