Wassertrüdingen Goes Climate Neutral
The Wassertrüdingen plant’s production has been transformed to become more and more sustainable – from recycling initiatives and energy savings to rail transport and the latest technologies. Since 2018, Wassertrüdingen has already been using renewable electricity (bought-in electricity from external suppliers) for their production equipment, lighting, or cooling. By the beginning of 2021, a 17,000 m2 photovoltaic system was additionally installed on the roof of the production facility and a surrounding field – with solar panels with a surface area of more than two soccer fields. Those solar panels generate as much energy as is needed for the average annual energy consumption of 450 households without producing harmful CO2 emissions that cause climate change. In addition to green electricity, this site also uses biogas to further minimise the site’s overall carbon footprint. Furthermore, by becoming CO2-neutral in 2022, Wassertrüdingen saved 7,500 tons of CO2 emissions per year – which is more than going around the world 900 times by car.
“The projects carried out in Wassertrüdingen are now the blueprint for transforming our other sites on our way to CO2-neutrality. The team of Wassertrüdingen is sharing their know-how with all other sites so that they can benefit from the experiences made here on the ground.”
Green Mile Delivery
We started biogas delivery in Paris for Schwarzkopf Professional salons. In collaboration with our partner Geodis, the main objective is to reduce CO2 emissions but it's also a good way to reduce "noise pollution" in the city.
Last Mile Delivery
In Spain, we established an innovative last-mile delivery system together with Koiki. With this, we reduce CO2 emissions within our environment and we also promote employment in vulnerable condition collectives locally.
